The IDF Diabetes Atlas is a unique resource on diabetes providing information on the burden of diabetes, economic costs and what can and must be done to prevent and manage diabetes.
This edition presents estimates of the prevalence of diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance for 216 countries and territories for the years 2010 and 2030. It also provides data for diabetes-related mortality and healthcare expenditures, and addresses current issues such as the need for investment in diabetes prevention and management programmes, and the challenges of containing the diabetes epidemic. In addition, critical issues such as trends in diabetes in the young, diabetes and depression, and the global monitoring of the quality of care are reviewed.
